Kailee’s Recent Obsessions

Into the Planet: My Life as Cave Diver by Jill Heinerth

I’ve been watching a lot of documentaries and youtube videos on cave diving and read a couple books.  To me,  the thought of cave diving is both alluring and terrifying.

From Here to Eternity: Finding the Good Death, and Smoke Gets In Your Eyes (And Other Lessons From The Crematorium) both by Caitlin Doughty

Another topic I’m currently interested in is death- specifically how different cultures around the world handle burials/cremations/treatment of the corpse. Two books I thoroughly enjoyed on the topic recently

A Death in the Forest- How a Language and a Way of Life Came to an End in Papua New Guinea

I’m also kind of obsessed with Papua New Guinea. It’s been an interest for a very long time, since I learned so much about it when getting my anthropology degrees. But I decided to join a tour in November in PNG, so I’m beyond thrilled and want to read all I can about it beforehand
